Provide pre-planning support to various asset teams to determine drilling and completion methods which are feasible and prudent in upcoming projects. Assess risk/reward criteria for completion projects. Write detailed cost estimates for completions and workovers. Present projects with AFEs to management for approval. Anticipate management questions and research possible answers. Assist/relieve the area Drilling Supt. in scheduling and monitoring of completions/workovers. Review of drilling, completions, and workovers to ensure goals were met and capture applicable lessons learned to be applied to future projects. Assist asset teams with decisions related to development, plugging, divestiture, or changes in operating philosophy on existing properties. Assist acquisition teams on property reviews to assess potential problems and furnish reasonable completion costs and engineered solutions. Prepare procedures for completions and implement them on location.

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 10 years, or Masters in Engineering with 8 years work related experience in oil and gas drilling operations and the related engineering activities. Six years of which includes (but is not limited to) workover operations, drilling designs prognosis, and completion designs is required. Familiarity with test analysis for cores, special core studies, DSTs, pressure buildup, logging, well stimulation, and tracer work is required. Must be familiar with and able to read/interpret regulatory rules on non-standard items; ability to be used as an expert witness, and have multiple industry contacts. Must be able to work with Geologist, Operations Engineer, Reservoir Engineer, and Landman as a team to present profit making projects. Knowledge and high degree of competence in the use of personal computers is required. The ability to teach in a classroom environment on several completion subjects is preferred. Significant field time is expected.
