Operate the controls of a drilling rig and supervise the daily workload and activities of the rig crew during the drilling process. Oversee all of the daily maintenance on the rig. During the drilling process perform ongoing preventative maintenance. Follow each rig’s daily maintenance schedule. Set-up and tear down the conventional rig and coil drilling rig. Drive commercial vehicle trucks and light duty trucks over various types of road conditions and terrain. When road conditions dictate it, employees will be required to install tire chains for better traction. Maintain documentation and paperwork (Daily Well Summary & Pipe Tally, etc.) related to the drilling process. Wash and maintain equipment to company standards. Maintain all employee related paperwork, time sheets, driver DOT log’s, trip sheets, etc. This job description reflects the minimum job duties for the lower level position.

A High School diploma or equivalent certification is required, with at least 2 years cumulative experience at the Floorhand and/or Derrickhand levels. Knowledge of downhole conditions and problems that can occur is required. A current valid vehicle operator’s license with a “clean” driving record is also required. These requirements reflect the minimum requirements for the lower level position. The level at which a candidate is hired into is dependent upon the skill level and previous related experience of that candidate and the minimum qualifications for such level that they are hired.
