Pioneer is one of the largest operators in the West Panhandle gas field in Texas, operating more than 600 wells. The Company owns the Fain gas processing plant and controls the wells, production equipment and gathering system for our portion of the field. Pioneer has received approval to drill infill wells to capture additional reserves and continually works to improve the efficiency of the compression and gathering equipment to maximize production from the field.

Mid-Continent OperationsThe Hugoton field in southwest Kansas has long been one of the most prolific gas fields in the continental United States. Pioneer has a working interest in approximately 1,200 Hugoton wells, most of which are Company-operated, and owns substantially all of the gathering and processing facilities that service its production from the field, including the Satanta gas plant. The Company led a cooperative effort to effect rule changes that will enable future development drilling and has plans to make continued improvements to the field compression system to optimize gas production.
