Eagle Ford Shale (South Texas)
Another resource play in the same area as the Edwards Trend in South Texas is the Eagle Ford Shale Play. This play is quickly becoming one of the hottest shale plays in North America. Pioneer has roughly 310,000 gross acres prospective in the play.
Pioneer's first successful well tested 11.3 MMCFEPD in October 2009. Pioneer's second well tested at an impressive rate of 17 MMCFPD in January 2010. These results, combined with the Company's in-house database, has led to an expansion of the drilling program in the Eagle Ford play for 2010.
