Barnett Shale
Pioneer entered the Fort Worth Barnett Shale play in 2007, building a land position of approximately 124,000 gross acres in Montague and Wise counties, with 92,000 gross acres in the liquids-rich Barnett Combo area of the field. Pioneer owns an average working interest of ~70%.
During the fourth quarter of 2010, Pioneer commenced a two-rig drilling program in the play. Pioneer's goal is to grow its liquids-rich Barnett Shale Combo position into a core asset.
