ENGINEER INTERN POSITIONS

At Pioneer, we have two basic types of engineering internships: Field Internships and Office Internships

Field Internships:

  • Internships in our field offices allow students to get as close to the well as possible. We offer hands on training in basic operations of both oil and gas fields by working hand in hand with field personnel.
  • Students are given a summer project which they must research and develop conclusions and recommendations before their summer ends. Each student presents their project before both management and additional engineering staff.
  • Locations include: Midland, TX; Lafayette, LA; and Trinidad, CO.
Office Internships:

  • Internships in our offices allow the students to work directly with the engineering staff. They work one on one with a mentor on actual, real-life engineering projects in either reservoir, drilling, or production.
  • Students are given a summer project which they must research and develop conclusions and recommendations before their summer ends. Each student presents their project before both management and additional engineering staff.
  • Internship locations include Las Colinas and Denver.

“Pioneer’s summer internship has exposed me to the wide variety of operations across Texas, GOM inland waters, and GOM shelf.  The experience has led me to grow and become more well rounded as a future Petroleum Engineer.  With Pioneer’s friendly atmosphere, I felt significant and was glad to be a part of the team..”

Sarah Hagerman, Field Engineering Intern, Texas A&M; University

“Pioneer provided me with an excellent opportunity to experience all of the challenges and responsibilities that I would face as an Engineer. The summer projects were challenging and very useful to the company. I had a great time working at Pioneer Natural Resources.”
